Music Together

June 4, 2017

Music Together

Music is becoming more of a luxury item than a common form of expression. But music shouldn’t be that way! Children should be exposed to as much music as possible, because the truth is, all children are musical! However, like with language acquisition, there is a period of critical musical development between birth and age seven.   Learning music is […]

Testing, Evaluation & Success

Testing, Evaluation & Success

How do traditional evaluations benefit the students ? When we talk about evaluations, don’t we have in mind a constant idea of comparing or measuring one student to others ? We have so many emotions when it comes to testing. At the French American School of Minneapolis, we made the decision to use a constructive testing tool […]

Classe de Découverte: French Language and French-speaking Communities

Classe de Découverte: French Language and French-speaking Communities

La Classe de Découverte is scheduled early in the school year for two main reasons: first, we encourage cooperation through lots of games and situations. Cooperation helps students to develop a positive attitude toward their classmates and the fieldtrip is a nice way to get new students to feel part of our community. The second reason is […]

Field Trip to Stages Theatre

Magic Tree House are a series of books, written by American author Mary Pope Osborne, that have enchanted thousands of kids. They are translated in French (“La Cabane Magique”) and we have got quite a lot of them in our school library! Some of these stories have been adapted into musicals, plays and even movies. […]

Le Théâtre

September 26, 2016

Le Théâtre

Theater is much like literature or the stories told in front of the fire place: it’s discovering other places, understanding each other and, finally, understanding ourselves… Theater at school? A great choice! … Firstly, for cultural and literary exposure. Theater in school! At the same time, theater works on developing confidence, concentration, speech, memory, rhythm […]

La Chorale à FASM

La Chorale à FASM

Singing is the first of all instruments and gives to a child a first physical contact with music. The voice and listening are very early means of communication and form of expression that children discover while playing with sounds, singing and moving. Singing teaches breathing, place a voice, rhythm, listening to self and others. A child […]

Note from Parent

Dominique Testimonial

As a parent, I love the school for many reasons: quality of education, which includes not only French taught by native French teachers, but also many other aspects of French culture, such as learning cursive, proper étiquette, etc. Also in the school are theater, social and emotional learning, and a top-notch Singapour math program, among many other things. But best of all is how my son loves the school, and is excited every Sunday to be starting a new week!
