In a traditional immersion program, it is difficult even impossible to just jump in after Kindergarten. However, is it too late to learn another language in grade 1, or 2 or later? Should all children be given the chance and the gift to learn another language? Because our school strongly believe in children amazing ability to learn, we are creating this fall a special path to allow non French-speakers to integrate our elementary grades into our academic curriculum: the Passport Program.
How does the Passport Program Work?
Elementary students already started to develop reading, grammar and vocabulary skills in English. The skills they developed in their mother tongue will support the learning of a second language. The Passport Program is designed to develop French language skills using games, movement, drama to develop basic French language skills. Each week students will benefit from 10 hours of undivided teacher’s attention in individual to small group setting, and spend the rest of the time in their regular classroom.
