The Amity Intern Teaching Program
The Amity Intern Teaching Program is an international nonprofit organization that pairs volunteer teaching assistants with US schools. In addition to serving in schools, interns are also assigned host families to cut down on living expenses and further broaden the cultural experience for everyone involved.
As a host family, you will gain friendship, understanding, knowledge and a more diverse connection to the world. You will experience new tastes, perspectives and customs, and have the chance to practice French with a native speaker. Long-lasting relationships may also develop between your family and the Intern, leading to ongoing exchanges of friendship and hospitality. Your children will also benefit from having an international friend and a foreign pen pal.
If a commitment as a host family is too much, there are opportunities for shorter periods of time, referred to as Friendship Families. As a Friendship Family, you volunteer to host an Intern for a weekend, a day or just a family outing. It’s an opportunity to have someone from France share time with you and show them some aspects of the American way of life through your eyes.
